Job Description

We're along I-91, 15 minutes from Bradley International Airport and the New England Air Museum. Our free airport shuttle runs 24-hours. The University of Hartford and downtown attractions like the Mark Twain House are within 10 miles.

The Hilton Garden Inn Hartford North/Bradley is hiring Night Auditors.

Position Summary: The Night Auditor performs all Guest Service Agent duties on the third shift (11:00PM - 7:30AM) including check-in/check-out, guest accounting, guest reception, etc.; operates the PBX and mans the radio base, balances Front Office and Food & Beverage activity for the day; and prepares daily reports for this activity.

Essential Functions:

    -Review house status with the second shift Front Desk Manager/Supervisor in preparation for the third shift check-in activity.
    -Post charges to guest accounts as needed.
    -Reconciles/balances all departments to final register reading by re-taping all department vouchers from the start of the day's business. All taped should be labeled and dated and a complete report detailing any adjustments for errors (with full explanation) should be included.
    -Compiles room revenue report detailing each room, rate charged, guest name and company affiliation, length of stay, and other information requested.
    -Process room, tax, movie charges and phone charges for the day. Total room revenue should balance to room revenue report.
    -Prepares tapes of individual folios in the guest and city ledger and reconciles the final balance.
    -Reconciles/balances actual advance deposits received during the day to the advance deposit folios.
    -Shut down Food and Beverage computer system (Micros) for the day and restart the following day
    -Complete and balance restaurant reports from Micros financial report and record Food & Beverage totals.
    -Performs all Front Desk/PBX duties during shift including the switchboard, check-ins, check outs, guest messages and requests, reservations, etc.
    -Records all information related to guest wake-up calls into wake-up call log and completed necessary arrangements to ensure that wake-up calls are made on schedule.
    -Perform computer system back-up and settle credit card total for both Front Desk and Food and Beverage.
    -Prepare reports of market segment activity and daily revenue.
    -Prepares by 7:00AM each day the Housekeeper's Report, listing the status of check-outs, stay-overs, vacant rooms, and out-of-order rooms for the night that just ended.
    -Prepares "cash-only" list Breakfast List for AM restaurant staff each morning.
    -Functions as Manager-On-Duty during all hours when there are no other managers on the property. Responsibly acts on all unusual and/or emergency situations ion accordance with the property procedures and common sense. Notifies the General Manager of any unusual incidents or emergencies, which occurred during the shift.

Other Tasks:

    -May be required to investigate guest complaints or respond to guest requests for towels, linens, room service, etc.
    -Complete High Balance Credit Report indicating all balances in guest ledger of cash customers with debit balances and those credit card customers who exceed the credit authorization or the property established credit limits.
    -Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements:

    -Ability to correctly complete forms and cross-check the accuracy of numbers taken from a variety of forms.
    -Common sense and sound decision-making abilities enabling one to make split second decisions of an emergency nature.
    -Must possess a friendly, helpful personality enabling one to handle guest relations pleasantly and effectively.
    -Excellent communications (written and verbal) skills required to handle all Front Desk responsibilities.
    -Must be able to work a late evening/early morning shift.
    -Ability to work irregular shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as activity levels demand.
    -Previous Front Desk (1 year) experience is preferred.
